Not another New Year’s Blog!

Published:

A New Year, A New Me, New Goal(s)… etc, etc (Can you tell I don’t particularly believe in all of that?)

The rush and stress of Christmas is over, me for one, I am actually rather relived it is. All of the build up, running around, I felt like I haven’t had a break and rather pleased to get back to work with some formality to it.

For many of us, when it comes to the new year, we tend to set goals. For this month’s blog we are going to look at how to organise the home, which in turn will make you feel great but you will also learn how to do it in a stylish way too!

Personally, I couldn’t think of a better way to start the year with a clutter free, organised stylish space!

Kitchen Hacks
Under sink storage!

Under the kitchen sink, for me is one of the worst cupboards there is. Majority of the time they are such an unusual space, especially with the sink trap in the middle. It makes it hard to store anything neatly.

It is a good idea to sort through it all and categorise any items you have in there. You can buy some small drawers like these from Ikea (storage organisation heaven!)

By using these you can store wash cloths, dishwasher tablets, brillo pads, fibre clothes, wet wipes etc. Pretty much everything that is under your sink. You can also label them up nicely with stickers if you wish!

Of course, the bottles of cleaning products aren’t going to fit in here, so you’ve got two options; depending on how much time you’ve got, you can transfer all the products into reusable bottles and label them up to match. Or you can get a clear tray and store them upright at the side of the drawers. The end result should like something like the below:

Carrier Bag’s

Doesn’t everyone have a stash of these? They’re so easy to gather in the cupboard like no tomorrow. With all of the bags for life we can now get instead, you would of thought that it would have put a stop to it.

Whilst gathering the content for this blog, I came across these food storage bags from Ikea! These are great for putting your fruit/veg in while at the shops and they also look pretty stylish. You could hang these up in the kitchen and no one would bat an eyelid!

Bathroom storage jars

The bathroom is where most people lack storage, it is a tough call as to where to keep the cotton wool balls, the makeup remover pads or the earbuds! Admittedly, these items in their own right aren’t the most sophisticated looking; However, if you put them into mason jars, they become more of a decor item. These jars with cork lids are perfect for the bathroom or kitchen, plus they are easy to stack on top of each other to create a more dramatic look!

Cupboards

This hack can be used in any cupboard, not just for the kitchen plates! Get a letter tray and dismantle it so you have two trays and then place them in the cupboard. Either place them upside down so it acts as a shelf on a shelf, or you might be able to hang some plates off of the top shelf. See the photo below and I am sure you’ll get the idea.

Doing this will create double the amount of storage space within the cupboard.

If you happen to try any of the above, please do let me know! Would love to see how your storage hacks turn out. If any of you want me to do a blog on something specific, drop us an email or via the contact

Speak to you next month!
